  • backing up db would probably be a good idea
  • download and extract new version of mediawiki
  • move wiki dir to wiki.date (in /var/www/docs/www.scotlug.org.uk)
  • move new version to wiki
  • copy LocalSettings.php and images from old wiki dir to new
  • run php maintenance/update.php from the new dir
  • check everything looks ok
  • make old version unreadable from web
