Linux and High-Performance Computing

With nearly 90% of the current Top 500 super computers, Linux is clearly the preferred operating system family for high end systems. However, high-performance computing is also becoming mainstream with multi-core systems and general purpose GPU computing readily available.

During this talk I would like to give you an overview of hardware and software technologies used on high-performance computing systems (and your new and shiny desktops). I will try to keep the presentation general by focusing on approaches rather than actual implementations.
