Where we're taking Scotlug
Overview
With myself now supposedly acting as maintainer of Scotlug, I'm quite keen to find out from our members what we want to do!
More specifically, I'd like to look at what events we've ran in the past people remember and want to look at running again, or variations thereof - for instance the Install Day that we didn't quite manage to get off the ground this year, the Christmas Meeting and more!
Do we want to run an install day next year?
Do we even want a Christmas Meeting, and if so, what format is it going to take?
We should also take a look at the Improving the Scottish Linux Users Group page and see how many of our self-set ideas and goals we've achieved, and if so how to update them.
Most importantly, I want to look at how we run Scotlug - How do we feel it runs currently, and how can we improve/change this? Is having just one maintainer a good idea? Should we have a couple of people working together to achieve the goal of smoother, more effective running? Should it be entirely community based - sharing the workload, with the maintainer doing all the final organisation of speakers, but not being left to deal with/organise these things from scratch? Is this, in fact, how we do it already?
There's quite a few questions to answer and consider there, and I do hope to stimulate some discussion amongst the group and wider community, and I'm sure you guys will have some thoughts on it too!
Oh, and one other thing - I'm on a long weekend holiday with my girlfriend, so I'm not going to be there to chair and document the discussion. Any volunteers?
The Search for A Mailing List Maintainer
Tgreer has managed the mailing list for a wee while now, however due to other commitments would like to pass on the responsibility to someone else. Would anyone like to give this a go? It shouldn't be too much of a drag on time, and there is no software install required - rumour has it that it's hosted for us!
