Gordon Pearce (aka gordonjcp) gave a talk on wireless networking, with a bit of a focus on homemade antennae. Also on display was the cantenna - an effective uni-directional wifi antennae made from an 800g (Heinz chicken) soup can.

Instructions for making a 'cantenna' can be found at http://www.saunalahti.fi/elepal/antenna2.html and other wireless-related fun at http://www.geocities.com/lincomatic/index.html (or just Google).

Good to see was the actual benefit and usage of add-on antenna to improve the signal.

A Q&A session on wireless was integrated into the talk, before we all retired to the Counting House for more discussion, celebration (for Celtic fans) and comiseration (for the solitary Liverpool fan crying into his Buds).
